meet-laurie The development of Evolutionary Money has been a 15-year project, emerging as two facets of my life came together. The first was my practical, professional life, the second my spiritual journey. For 25 years, as a certified financial planner and licensed investment advisor, I counseled clients around all manner of financial issues and challenges. At the same time, I was managing investment portfolios and struggling to understand why it was that the economy, and in particular the stock market, reacted the way it did at a particular moment in time..

As my professional life evolved, I became aware that money, so critical to each human being, had a hidden side. In addition, I became fascinated about the overall economy and the noticeable fear and greed, which seemed ever present. Out of these experiences it became clear that not only was our relationship to money askew, but the problems of our capitalistic society intensified each year. The question then began to arise for me: What would it mean to take a fresh relationship to both money and our capitalistic economic system?

The second facet of this work has been my spiritual journey. Many years ago I felt a deep calling to follow a spiritual path—what I would later name the mystical path. I longed for a deep and intimate connection with that which gave me life. In what is still a mystery to me, these two aspects of my life—my spiritual journey and my fascination with the economy—began to weave together bringing forth a book, which I would later call Evolutionary Money.

In the early 2000s I came across Lynne McTaggart’s book The Field. Here she clearly explains the effects of the Newtonian/Darwinian Worldview on all of us, and contrasts it with the emerging new physics—quantum mechanics. Something in this book stirred a new knowing; we’ve been relating to money from the Newtonian (separating) Worldview. Then a question began to arise: What if we saw money and capitalism through the lens of quantum physics?

Over the next six years I developed concepts for a new money reality. I also enrolled in a Master’s program, where I discovered how capitalism became a captive of Newtonian physics, and much to my amazement, revealed itself to be only a belief system. It then became clear that our relationship to money and to capitalism could change to the benefit of all, if viewed through the lens of quantum physics.

In 1985 I received my certified financial planner designation. Over the course of the next 25 years, I practiced as a certified financial planner and registered investment advisor. I taught numerous financial planning courses – Financial Planning for Women, Money Sense for Couples, Estate Planning, and Advanced Investment Techniques. I received my MBA in 2012 from Breyer State University.

Today, as an economic futurist, I am dedicated to spreading the ideas in my book – imaging money as a unifying exchange and capitalism as a system that works for everyone.
